Petróleos Mexicanos Heavy Crude Oil called Maya is produced totally in its offshore oil fields located in the Bay of Campeche.
Part of this Crude Oil is pumped to Pemex offshore loading facilities located nearby the Cayo Arcas Keys about 90 miles north of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, which is the city and port where Pemex, the Port Authorities, the Cargo Inspectors and the Agents maintain their headquarters. Daily helicopters flights are provided from and to Ciudad del Carmen and the Port Installations.
The types of offshore loading facilities are:
- Two S.P.M. buoys located in above Cayo Arcas Keys.
- One fixed-arm loading facility also located in the Cayo Arcas Keys.
- One FSO Unit named Ta’Kuntah with two loading positions, one side by side and one by tandem, located nearby the above Keys and about 60 miles North / Northwest of Ciudad del Carmen.
